<br />
xxx<br />
<b><span style="font-size: small;"><br /></span></b>
<br />
<div>
<b><span id="role_document" style="color: black; font-family: Arial; font-size: small;">It seems that there was a photographer <span style="font-size: small;">who</span> worked throughout the Korce
region dating back to the early part of the 1900's. <span style="font-size: small;">His</span> original negatives are
fading and someone has taken the task of digitizing them to save them for
history. This project will take about 5000 Euros. Al and I think it is worth
supporting <span style="font-size: small;">so</span> I am trying to find others who are willing to
donate $500- $1000 toward this project. I have commitments for $3500 <span style="font-size: small;">but</span> we
need about $3000 more. Can you participate and know of some others that may have
an interest?</span></b><br />
</div>
<b><span id="role_document" style="color: black; font-family: Arial; font-size: small;">
</span></b><br />
<div>
<b><span id="role_document" style="color: black; font-family: Arial; font-size: small;">This is the email from the fellow who is spearheading the project.</span></b><br />

<b><span id="role_document" style="color: black; font-family: Arial; font-size: small;">

<b><span id="role_document" style="color: black; font-family: Arial; font-size: small;">

<span id="role_document" style="color: black; font-family: Arial; font-size: small;">

<span id="role_document" style="color: black; font-family: Arial; font-size: small;"><b>Dear Lou, </b></span></div>
<span id="role_document" style="color: black; font-family: Arial; font-size: small;">
</span>
<div>
<span id="role_document" style="color: black; font-family: Arial; font-size: small;"><b>The photographer we are speaking of is: Kristaq Sotiri. He his author of
similar works such as: (Tefta Tashko Koco) <a href="https://fbcdn-sphotos-a-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/647_53770924283_2837964_n.jpg" target="_blank" title="This external link will open in a new window">https://fbcdn-sphotos-a-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/647_53770924283_2837964_n.jpg</a>

but of course a large number of the pictures are expected to represent daily
life, happiness or sorrow in the peoples of Korca's sorroundings (<a href="https://fbcdn-sphotos-g-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-snc7/647_53770919283_7153602_n.jpg" target="_blank" title="This external link will open in a new window">https://fbcdn-sphotos-g-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-snc7/647_53770919283_7153602_n.jpg</a>). </b></span><br />
<span id="role_document" style="color: black; font-family: Arial; font-size: small;"><br /></span>
<span id="role_document" style="color: black; font-family: Arial; font-size: small;"><b> After the digitalization of photo-Marubi, this should be the largest project of
photo digitalization in Albania</b></span></div>
<span id="role_document" style="color: black; font-family: Arial; font-size: small;">
<div>
<b><br /></b></div>
<div>
<b>There is an immediate need to preserve them. Beside the economical aspects
of the heirs of the archive, there are also other incentives like tourists or
specific people buying the photo-negatives (on glass) as reliques or for other
purposes. The digitization will at least create a full snapshot of this archive
as it is today, because small part of it have been lost already.</b></div>
<div>
<b><br /></b></div>
<div>
<b>The digitalization will be carried away by "Qendra Kombëtare e
Inventarizimit të Pasurive Kulturore", a Governmental Institution concerned with
cultural heritage. The problem is that they did not have the funds (and their
proposal to the Ministry of Culture was rejected). Basically all the money I
asked Rich to help me raise, will go to this process. Beside that, I will add
personally another 1000€ to present the effort of the donors in a exposition
which is necessary in this case. </b></div>
<div>
<b>Rich has also mentioned the idea of a printed album (and we have an
agreement for this as well) with the best pictures (should be free to distribute
thought), but I have not included it in the price list before and honestly I am
not so much concerned about that right now.</b></div>
<div>
<b><br /></b></div>
<div>
<b>We have an agreement with the heirs of the archive, but in Albania there is
a dynamicity in these things. Normally if someone has an agreement he should act
quick or the other party might change the mind ("per sa kohe hekuri eshte i
nxehte"). In fact I was hoping that the process of raising this fund would have
been instant considering the value of the project and the required budget.
Apparently I was too enthusiast and got carried away.</b></div>
<div>
<b>Let me know your thoughts and some other people we may approach.</b></div>
<div>
<b>Regards,</b></div>
<div>

Cross-Media</b></span></span>
<br />
<br />
Print is the foundation of an increasingly complex cross media environment.
Consumers are enjoying more connectivity and control than ever before. This
requires a fresh look at your creative approach, value proposition, media mix and
budget— not only the cost of individual elements of a campaign, but also any
required investment in technology and training. A clear strategy is essential for
success, building on the fundamentals of marketing: understanding your customers
and meeting their wants, needs and desires.<br />
<br />
<b>Identify the purpose of each tactic.</b> The idea isn't to throw
every cool new technology into the mix; it's to combine the components in such a
way that the result is a successful campaign based on reach, frequency and
response rate. Establish contact by mailing a customized postcard, letter or
self-mailer that drives the reader to a personalized URL. Offer the option of
connecting to the site by either entering a Web address or scanning a QR code.
Here the respondent can sign up for an email list and find links to your Facebook
and Twitter accounts, opening the door to regular communication. Make sure
content is consistent in message, look and feel across print and digital
platforms.<br />
<br />
<b>Move beyond simple demographics.</b> It's tempting to use basic
information, such as gender, age and income, to guide your marketing efforts. Go
a step further to understand what your prospects care about. Today's consumer
wants to be an individual, not a segment. The more personalized an offer is (the
right message delivered in the right way), the more inclined the target audience
is to respond favorably.<br />
<br />
<b>Measure your success.</b> The diverse spectrum of media options has
created an intense demand to demonstrate return on investment. How will you
define success? Connect each element of the cross-media campaign to a reasonable
target. For example, state that the direct mail piece will drive a certain number
of hits on your website, and the website will entice a defined percentage of
visitors to request more information. This, in turn, will result in a specific
amount of new business.<br />
<br />
The convergence of print, online, mobile, and social media empowers consumers to
respond in the way they prefer. Keep an eye to the future; be ready to embrace
the next innovation that will give you one more option for delivering relevant
content to your target customers. </td></tr>

<div id="article-body-blocks">
<a href="http://www.berat.info/" title="">Berat</a>, city of a
thousand windows, lurches up a hillside to an ancient walled castle
settlement,<br />
still inhabited. Cobbled alleys as wide as a donkey clamber
in twists and turns, and the windows<br />
of the packed Ottoman houses flash
in the sunlight.<br />
<br />
The modern town stretches away up the valley, but leads to nowhere. To go further south in <a href="http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/albania" title="More from guardian.co.uk on Albania">Albania</a><br />
you have to retrace your steps to the main north-south highway, red on
the map, or take the old road,<br />
yellow on the map, which is the main
route for several hamlets and villages along the way. It fetches<br />
up at
the crossroads town of Kelcyre, where you can turn off for <a href="http://www.gjirokastra.org/home.html" title="">Gjirocastër</a>, another ancient city.<br />
<br />
We
take the yellow road. The distance is vague, maybe 50km. The tarmac
runs out a few kilometres<br />
from Berat. We climb through a patchwork of
fruit trees and olives, closely planted and meticulously<br />
cared for, and
catch up with a bus grinding its way from rock to rock across the
ravaged road. Bumpy<br />
hours later and in much wilder countryside we come
to smooth tarmac, and place bets as to whether<br />
we've arrived at the
Kelcyre junction, because none of the tiny settlements we have passed
through<br />
has had a sign with a name. We stop for a coffee at a tiny shop,
where they are miffed that their village,<br />
Buz Ketu, doesn't appear on
our map. They show us roughly where we are – we haven't yet covered<br />
a
third of the way. Their tarmac ends just past the houses and an hour
later we give up and camp in<br />
the wilds. As darkness falls, tiny lights
sprinkle the hillsides and the sound of sheep bells is<br />
accompanied by
voices and barks. The landscape is nowhere near as empty as it seems.<br />
<br />
Next
day our most frequent fellow travellers are the tortoises. We stop
regularly to lift them to safety.<br />
A washed-out bridge over a gulley adds
to the excitement, but eventually we drop down into Bellaban<br />
village
where tarmac of sorts starts again. We can put on a little turn of
speed. The last stage to<br />
Gjirocastër on the red road down the Drina
gorge seems positively racing.<br />
<br />
Gjirocastër, city of a thousand
steps, has wide cobbled streets that wind up a hill to a gloomy castle.<br />
As befits the town's position on the red road, young men career their
cars up and down for show.<br />
We walk up through the lanes with their
gentler Ottoman heritage, and leave the truck to rest awhile.<br />

From
the austere supplications of a 12th-century Christian mystic, to the
premiere of a brand new work inspired by Turkish Sufi ceremonies, A Far
Cry’s season-opening program at the Gardner Museum on Sunday afternoon
covered a lot of ground. And that was just the first half. After that
came the keening ecstasies of a klezmer-style romp for chamber orchestra
and solo clarinet, and the lofty pieties of the “Heiliger Dankgesang,”
the song of thanksgiving from Beethoven’s Quartet Op. 132.<br />
Musical
mysticism was the afternoon’s theme, and Beethoven was in fact the only
composer on the program whose name Gardner music director Scott
Nickrenz knew how to pronounce, he told the capacity crowd in Calderwood
Hall. (I don’t believe him, but he was making a point.) And more credit
to A Far Cry for it. The city’s exuberant self-directed chamber
orchestra has always clearly had a lot of fun performing its programs.
This season, its sixth, the group appears to be having more fun in
putting them together, too.</div>

<span style="font-size: large;"><b><br /><br />There will be a booth at Saint George Cathedral<br />523 East Broadway South Boston, MA 02127<br />on Sunday, September 16, presided by members of the Albanian American<br />Medical Society to inform the Boston community on the Albanian Health<br />Initiative survey.<br />All are encouraged to attend. 10 AM to 12 Noon.<br /><br />Dr. Dafina Pruthi, Dr. Ismet Lukolic, Dr. Erstela Durresi and other<br />physicians are expected in order to answer questions on the survey.<br /><br />Please read the information below.<br /><br />From: <a _to="President@albamedsociety.org" href="http://www.blogger.com/blogger.g?blogID=3352567443305047342">President@albamedsociety.org</a><br />Subject: Albanian Health Initiative <br /><br />Dear Members, Friends, Families, Colleagues:<br /><br />We are very excited to share with you a recent project which has been<br />undertaken by a few members of our medical society which may have<br />historical impact and help learn how you can play a role as well. During the past few months Dr.'s Ismet Lukolic, Granit Veseli, and Elizabeth Lulaj have worked closely with senior members of the AAMS on creating a survey with intentions of collecting preliminary data on the Albanian-American population that has become quite prominent in NYC, as well as other cities and towns throughout the United States--especially over the last three decades! However, while this community has become moderately successful as small business owners and entrepreneurs, the fact of the matter is that we still lag far behind when it comes to our health care and understanding our rights to access of health care.</b></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b><br />For example,<br />the awareness of the importance of colorectal screening protocols or<br />cervical cancer screening is scarce to nonexistent. Moreover, even the limited amount of Albanian physicians practicing in those areas are inadequately educating or raising awareness of such standards despite their efforts in extending these standards of practice to their patients. For this reason, we have begun 'The Albanian Health Initiative which will collect anonymous data using either a paper survey the patient can fill out in your office or can mail back to us, or if the participant chooses they can request a copy from us on-line at our email address (<a _to="healthsurvey@albamedsociety.org" href="http://www.blogger.com/blogger.g?blogID=3352567443305047342">healthsurvey@albamedsociety.org</a>) or go to our on-line survey to complete it. The Albanian Health Initiative goal is to try and identify and eliminate health care disparities that exist in the Albanian American community in an effort to promote preventative screening measures and more efficiently utilize health care resources empowering both the patient and physician to improve the quality of care and strengthen the patient-physician relationship.</b></span><br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b><br />Please find attached for your review copies of the survey and an awareness flyer alerting participants to how they can participate in this study.</b></span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: large;"><b> Also, you can go on our Facebook page to follow the link to our on-line survey found at:<a href="http://kwiksurveys.com/?u=AAMSHealth_Survey" target="_blank"> http://kwiksurveys.com?u=AAMSHealth_Survey</a> . We are very excited about the potential benefits this initiative has to offer both our patients and us as health care professionals as well.<br /><br />We kindly request your help with offering your friends, family, and<br />Albanian patients this survey in your office for them to fill out. Once they have completed the survey they can deposit in a drop box which will be provided to you and the completed surveys will be collected periodically. This survey will not involve any expense to you or your office nor will there be any financial incentive for your participation. However, the incentive will be that you are making an effort to understand your Albanian patients better and are actively trying to learn how to better serve that subset of your patients.<br /><br />Thank you for offering to help and please contact<a _to="healthsurvey@albamedsociety.org" href="http://www.blogger.com/blogger.g?blogID=3352567443305047342"> healthsurvey@albamedsociety.org</a> if you wish to participate or have any<br />questions or concerns that need clarification. Once you have contacted us we will arrange for the surveys and drop box to be delivered to your office.<br /><br />Thank you,<br />-- <br />Lindita Çoku, MD<br />President/Co-Founder<br />Albanian American Medical Society<br />Boston, MA, USA<br />Voicemail 617-236-0113</b></span></div>
